Barely Gentle proud partner with Brandella Films

Posted by: soapsrus on: March 1, 2010

Barely Gentle proud partner with Brandella Films in the production of a movie “A Daughter’s Hope”   Below you can read about the story line of this movie.

“A Daughter’s Hope” is the fictional telling of the true life events of Michigan resident Christine Hill as she struggles to overcome an extraordinarily difficult and abusive life, the most painful part of which was the unexplained disappearance of her mother from the Florida Keys in 1981. While the case is still unresolved, this particular story focuses on Ms. Hill as she fights with setback after setback, only to become a stronger wife and mother to her own family. Ms. Hill is also the co-writer of the script.”

Because the story addresses the important issues of domestic abuse and missing loved ones, Brandella Films is dedicating a percentage of the film’s ultimate profits to charities that handle these serious problems. Anyone interested in making a financial donation towards the production of this poignant film is encouraged to visit:

What you may not know about handmade soap…..

Posted by: soapsrus on: November 13, 2009

Handmade soap is a blend of both art and science.  Handcrafted soap is soap in its true and most pure form, each bar is safe and unique. Handcrafted soap can be made from scratch by the cold or hot process methods.

True soaps are the result of a chemical reaction between vegetable or animal fats, water and lye. When these are combined, they transform into soap and glycerin with no lye remaining in the finished bar of soap. This chemical reaction is called saponification. Our handmade soap is made using our very own recipes.

We use only food-quality, natural ingredients, starting with a variety of vegetable oils along with quality body safe fragrance oils or plant-based essential oils for scent. For color, sometimes texture, cosmetic grade dyes or pigments, herbs, spices or other natural ingredients are added. Or for those wishing not to have scent or colorants added, we offer unscented, uncolored soap as well.

What About Glycerin?

Glycerin is a “humectant”, which means that it attracts and retains moisture on your skin. It is like a natural skin lotion in the soap. Glycerin is a natural by-product of the soapmaking process. Most commercial soap manufacturers remove the glycerin from the soap, process it and then sell it to other industries where it is used in foods, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and other products.
With our handmade soaps, glycerin remains intact in the soap. The end result is mild, pure soap that gently cleanses your skin without being harsh, irritating or drying.

What’s the Difference?

Commercial soaps are manufactured in large factories (often located overseas) using the most economical ingredients. Often they contain some or all synthetic detergents; most have the glycerin removed.
Handmade soaps are manufactured locally in small batches with the personal touch and care of the soapmaker. Handmade soapmakers use high-quality ingredients and are able to add additives to personalize their creations. The creativity of each handmade soapmaker results in soaps that are unique, offering consumers a wide selection of soaps that are not only natural, but functional and beautiful as well.

Visit our website today and try one of our handmade soaps for yourself. Our soaps are not like any others you have used before…………..
